Tips for Backpacking
If properly packed, a backpack can carry an amazing group of hiking gear. However, you must know where everything should be kept, and there is no conventional way of packing. Get all the gear and tray various loading routines until you find the perfect format to pack. All the gear should be included in a checklist to ensure everything is accounted for, and note down whatever worked nicely after every trip.
Overpacking should be avoided especially for 3 day trip or a summer hike, and if you want to reduce the weight, you can try to sort out the things you need and from the ones that are not necessary. Therefore, you can pile the important items, and eliminate the luxurious ones. However, you can pick half of the luxury pile anyway, but if the backpack has more space, you can add the luxuries. Therefore, you should try fixing everything and ditching the luxuries, until you are contented with the backpack for the 30 degree weather summer hike.
Packing is an art, and so you must be comfortable when carrying by ensuring your stability is fine. Convenient accessory of the gear from the backpacking bag should also determine how you pack for the summer hike. After all, you want to get whatever you need without removing everything, thereby showing some organization and avoiding the trail side junk show.
The center of gravity can be achieved by packing the heaviest gear close to the back. Foodstuffs, cooking gear, clothing, and water should be on the top side between the shoulder blades. Pack the gear depending on the usage frequency in mind. For example, the sleeping bag will not be needed before preparing the camp, and so it should be on the bottom. Depending on the contemporary weather conditions, you will know where to pack the puffy jackets, because, in case of a chilly situation, you should wear them on arrival. Therefore, all the high-use accessories should be stored at the top or near it because of an unplanned cold hike.
As pointed above, no definite packing design exists, and so the approach you use does not guarantee perfection. Therefore, you need better organization, and using compression sacks is one way to achieve that. Compression sacks eliminate excess air from the backpacking bag, thereby creating more space for more stuff. They also facilitate better gear organization and being waterproof, you can carry wet clothing for a cold hike.
However, compression sacks can create deal spaces making the load unnecessarily shift in the backpack. Also, the sleeping bag should not be stored in these sacks because they can damage the natural loft, and it will not insulate you from a tough cold hike. During the rainy season, you should not ley the backpacking bag wet, and so advised to buy a good cover. The water-resistant compression sacks will safeguard the sensitive gear from inside. Trash bags are simple and cheap, and you can also buy them because they can protect the backpacking bag.
Hiking Accessories
When hiking to the favorite destination, you must carry the right accessories because they can help when things go wrong. The first-time hikers should understand the inconveniences involved in backcountry traveling to prioritize the essential gear and other necessary pre-hiking preparations.
Navigation
You should have a trusty compass and a topo map because they help to explore the backcountry.
